Why Do Steel Structures Need Fire-resistant Coatings For Protection?

2025-03-03
When the temperature is below 250 ℃, the properties of steel change very little. When the temperature reaches 300 ℃ or above, the strength gradually decreases. When it reaches 450 ℃ to 650 ℃, its strength usually only drops to zero in about 15 minutes, causing the steel structure to collapse, which may have catastrophic consequences. Therefore, steel structures must be coated with fire-resistant coatings for protection, in order to increase their fire resistance limit and meet the requirements of building design fire protection standards.
